    Clarion CMD6

I have seen allot of people mention the Clarion CMD6, but I was wondering what people like and dislike about it. I am looking to upgrade my Clarion XM3 to a CMD6.

I general I really like the CMD6. The only thing I wish could be improved is the iPod control. I would like to be able to use the iPod to navigate through songs, but the CMD6 forces you to use the deck. There is a way to turn this feature off, but the manual says it only works with certain iPods. I own a 5th gen and an iPhone, and neither will let me control the music through the iPod itself.

Thanks for the reply. Is controlling the iPod from the clarion remote very difficult.

I dont have a remote, but it is not very difficult to control on the unit itself, just not as fast as controlling on the iPod

I get what you are saying. Does the unit work well with your Iphone? Does it charge the Iphone?

Hmm I havent checked to see whether it charges or not. It does work well though, just as well as with an iPod. I usually just put the iPhone on shuffle with whatever artist, then plug it into the deck. The CMD6 will just pick up whatever the iPhone was playing.

The Clarion CMD6 is an excellent unit. But Alpine holds an advantage in iPod functionality.

Thanks for the reply David. I have been looking at the Alpine units as well. I was wondering what the key differences are between the iDA-X100M and the CDA-118M? I know the iDA-X100M dosent have a CD player, but what are the other differences?

                    bluetooth

I should be getting my new 200 with the clarion deck soon and I will let you know about the iphone connections.
I have the lates iphone and will connect it. I also bought a bluetooth adapter for the clarion deck. I have one
connected to my home stereo and it works great. However Apple has left out some features of the bluetooth.
It still would have been nice if the Linq system had better control to display the songs and a touch screen to select them. I guess that will all come in time!
