using resin/hardener on inside of box

i'm in the process of getting more DIY with my boat. i plan on building a ported box for my sub and had a question about glassing the inside of the box. should i build most of it and then glass it? or glass the insides, let cure, sand, and then put it together? should i use mat on the outside? i have read about both ways. i plan to build it of 3/4 mdf w/ 1" sub mount and internal braces. i want one from earmark but would rather try it myself and see what happens. for the most part i've got it covered, just wondering about glassing the inside. also, what's a good paint to cover it w/ once it dries?

glass typically refers to the cloth matting, not sure if this is what you mean when you say glass the inside of the box but you probably do not need to add any cloth to a 3/4 mdf box?

Just paint the outside of a sealed box and the inside and outside of a ported box with epoxy resin to make it water resistant and you should be good to go. Some guys use self applied bed liner instead, almost anything that creates a water barrier will work.
