Security Camera ?

Our Nautique sits in a semi-public marina for the summer and we've had a couple of problems of people pulling the cover off and rummaging through things. Thinking about a small security camera on the tower to see if we can catch whoever's doing it. Has anyone done this or familiar with systems that might work well? Ideally something that would record for a week or two at a time if we're out of town.

you should electrify it with about 50,000v. or, check out brookstone, hammacher schlemmer, or google security cams. there are alot of them that broadcast, but seeing someone after the fact won't help. you could look into an autopage car alarm. not sure how well it would work, but it will alert you via text or email if something happens, and you can get a motion alert that sets a warning off then siren if someone get's too close. have you considered a single storage unit?

We do this frequently in vehicles. The recording is silently triggered by a radar field sensor and records for a prescribed period without another trigger. So memory space easily exceeds your needs.

You've got to secure the drive, have a back-up battery and an AC shore charger.

We have a defender four camera system at the house. Got it through Amazon. Works very well. You can get different numbers of cameras, hard drive sizes, etc. You can network them and access the feed from any computer with an internet feed.

Doing it at a marina is a bit trickier without someone who knows what he's doing though.

Security camera

The best way to protect your investment with a camera, is to buy a "trail Camera". Hunters use these, mounted on trees and ? to record what kind of animals come into an area. You can easly mount the camera off at a distance pointed at your boat, when motion is detected it snaps a photo or in some cases can take a short video. Buy the infared one, so you can record in darkness. Cost about $300 and you can mount it anywhere. Great investment. Check your local sporting goods store.

x2 on the trail cam. They can last up to a couple months on the batteries, just be mindful where to put it so the theives don't take the camera with them.

Had an alarm system installed in mine when new, floor and motion sensing, siren goes off and lights flash when activated.
