    Clarion CMD6 and my Iphone

Have not spent much time checking this out but when I plug my iphone 3gs into the USB port it
says "NO Media" on the clarion unit.
I did check carion's web site and the iphone is supported. Do i need to set something in my iphone or
clarion deck to get them to play music?

Spoke to Clarion and they said I should not have any problem using my iphone. They use the latest
Nano ipod to test on there units. So I now have loan of a brand new Nano. If anyone else can let
me know if there ipod or iphone is working on there sn200 that would be helpful!

      SN 200 iphone/ipod not working

Plugged in my iphone via the USB connector and switched the clarion CMD6 to ipod.
The display on the clarion will show USB then say No Media. I tried both usb ports with the
same results using an iphone 3gs and a ipod nano. Spoke to service at Clarion and
they said I should not have a problem but there maybe something wrong with the deck or
the wiring to the USB and Linc system. My iphone does display for a few seconds that
the usb port will not be able to charge my iphone so i know its connecting in that way.
Can anyone with a sn200 confirm there iphone/ipod is working fine or if they have this
issue also. Sorry for the double post in the audio section but i had no reply there and Im in a hurry
since the dealer is sorting out some other issues this weekend for me.

My iPhone 3G does NOT work with the USB ports on my 2010 210. I have to use the audio input instead.

I have a Clarion stereo in my car and occasionally get this message with the ipod. Unplugging the ipod from the stereo, rebooting it, then plugging it back in has always solved the issue.

I called CC and they know of the problem with the USB connector. It turns out the company that makes the
connector on the dash is now using too long a cable. At first the connector had a 6' cable but now it has a
14' cable. Out the back of the Clarion unit is a 3' cable that it connects to. At a total of 17' of cable it causes a
timing issue and it won't read proper. They don't have a replacement connector yet and are trying to source one.
On another note the usb connection in the dash by the driver is only connected to the Linc system for updates.
Haveing the stereo usb in the storage box does not seem like a good design to me. I would much rather have it right in the location of the linc usb to connect my iphone/ipod. Anyways will be going bluetooth now.

I have have the CMD 6 in my boat with an usb extension cord I bought from Clarion in my boat. I am able to use my iphone and control the songs I pick from the phone itself. In the clarion instructions for Ipod use, go to simple control of ipod if you want to control music selection from your phone. You can still control the volume or skip to the next song with the remote or HU.

I have not been able to get that feature to work (control straight from iPhone). Every time I change the setting as indicated in the manual, nothing happens. When i go back to change the setting again, its back on the original HU control mode. Any thoughts?

some iphone models are not compatable with the CMD6 . They do have a chart but it is not up to date.

Actman is correct, some models are not compatible, there for the simple mode does not work. I have the Iphone 3GS and it works in the simple mode as well as my son's Ipod touch. I have an older 30 gig Ipod that does not work in the simple mode because it is not support.

I tried my IPOD Nano today in my new 2010 226, it will not read the IPOD in either USB port?? How do I get the IPOD to work? Do I need to plug it into the little crome one under the dash or the Yellow RCA jack? Just want a quick fix for Fourth of July weekend coming up. Any help would be appreciated.

                          Problem Solved sorta

yesterday I confirmed that I do have the long 12' cable. I disconnected it from the Clarion and pluged my iphone directly into the clarion usb cable coming out of the unit. It worked perfect!!! The only usb connected is the one in the
storage box not by the driver.
The usb in the box will not work with the iphone/nano ipod however it will work with a flash drive loaded with music.
I called the supplier of the accessory (Prospec Electronics) and they have no 6' accesories in stock and they have no future plans to make them other then with a 12' or longer cable! CC has no fix due to this either. Its not a good idea to cut and spice together usb cables. It looks like the unit is sealed so from what i see it cannot be taken apart and soldered but i will take a closer look this weekend. Here are my options so far..

                          1) Buy usb accessory from Clarion ($39) and plug it in and mount it
                          2) Extend the USB from the clarion out from under there or threw the storage box
                          3) Install optional BlueTooth adapter by Clarion (will let you know how it works this weekend!)

If anyone has any other solution let me know. I am a hardcore skier but when it comes to relax times I need my
                          tunes with full control lol

You can cut and splice USB without any loss in signal quality.

                            4 wires.
