I was on the lake yesterday (2010 SN200 OB) and noticed that one of my power amps was VERY HOT! Today, I turned the system on for about 30 minutes playing at low level and the amp read 159 F. It sure seems like this amp is way too small for this application. Any suggestions before I contact the dealer next week?
My system uses the following where all of the speakers are Polk Audio 651 (2.7 ohm, 200w peak):
Tower - Two speakers powered by a Polk Audio PA250.2 connected to the front fader. These work well but have a pronounced hiss at low output levels.
Rear - Four speakers powered by a Marine Audio MA PA400 (I can't find any info on this on line). It does have four outputs and it appears that there is a speaker wired to each output but I cant tell for sure. This is the amp that gets hot.
Front - Two speakers that appear to be powered by the head unit? As these and the tower are on the same fader channel, I can't get them balance correctly. The fronts are too low.
