    Amp Recomendations

Looking to do a simple setup with 4 polk db6.5's and a 10 inch kenwood KFC-1000f, I want to push the polks and the sub off one amp if possible. I'm not looking for the badest system on the water just something clean and clear. Bare with me as i'm a system novice, but I'm definitely trying to squeeze as much versatility and quality out of my budget as possible! I'm already locked in on my 6.5's and my ($free$) sub so...

    1) What would be best, three or five channel amp (5 for possible tower expansion later on)??

    2) Seperate amps for sub and 6.5's??

    3) Minumum power ratings needed to facilitate my equipment???

Thanks for any help....electronics are my nemesis!!!

Take a look at the infiniti kappa 5. Nice combo of sufficient power for your needs (unless that free air requires some significant juice), nice size (medium) and nice price on eBay. If you are looking for a compact amp size, the alpine pdx5 amps are pretty tiny, but expensive.

I'm running 4 Polk db651 speakers and an 8" Polk mm in a sealed box of a lesser powered Infiniti amp and am quite pleased.

Your system is nearly identical to what I have in my slalom boat. It has 4 Polk db650 and a Polk 10" factory sub running off a Clarion APX480. I am quite happy with the system, nice and simple, loud but not over the top like my wakeboard boat running Wetsounds.

Run the 4 boat speakers off the front amp channels and bridge the sub across the rear channels. Any mid grade amp should work fine. A few guys have had good luck with the Cadence amps, I have had good luck with HiFonics amps too.

I have the Infinity Kappa 5 in my car, great amp but a bit pricey compared to others. In the car I needed the 5 channels so my Alpine sound processor would work correctly. In your boat a 4 channel amp will work fine, as long as you do not need fading between the front and rear.

        Thanks fellas,

East TX- by free I meant it didn't cost me anything so I'm using it, it's in a sealed box so I wont need any ridiculous amount of power

Mikeski- you anwered my question in one sentence...run the 4 speakers off the front channels and sub off the bridged rears-4 channel will work, thanks again, I was definitely over thinking this one!!
