When two subs are separated, with different orientations, in different cavities with different
surrounding boundaries and the two subs are at different distances from the listeners, then this results in conflicted phasing which means the output of the subs will not sum as efficiently as placing both in a single .76 cu ft enclosure where they are symmetrically and compound loaded. Its very different than using fullrange speakers around the boat because they are not reproducing the longer wavelengths that subs do. Just consider it.

so is .73 cu ft the size of the sealed box it would take for both together or a box with 2 seperate sealed chambers each .36 cu ft?

        Yamaracer,
Yes, either both drivers in .76 total or two drivers in separate enclosures of .38 each.

For tower speakers that emphasize quality of sound versus absolute amplitude, visit our site and view the Bullet HollowPoint 770 7.7-inch coaxial or the Exile SXT65. The Access Tech 8-inch 2-way is presently an absolute bargain. All of these speakers can reach the rider too.
For all out volume and long range projection check out the Bullet HollowPoint 770 HLCD, Exile XM-7 HLCD or Wetsounds HLCDs (horn loaded compression drivers).

Mostly gravitate towards the dedicated marine store in Lewisville, Dallas. But I also do big boat audio/video and home theater. So if I'm not around at the moment ask for Shane (handles local patrons) or leave a message and I'll get back with you. Thanks.

Glad those worked out for you. They are stout little subs, for sure.
