Mine (since changed out to Alpine) had an automotive antenna tyrapped to the wiring harness under the side of the boat. Had to lay down in the observers seat to see it.

Ive got a 95 SS open bow.. It has a playpen open front so there is a lot of room under the entire bow.. The original owner had a standard whip auto antenna just laying up front under the playpen.... it sucked... I bought a small rubber whip (cheap) just to try and see if there is a diff... nope.
Then I went online and built my own half wave... nope.. then bi0directional dipole... still nope... I am thinking Sat Radio is the only answer... there isnt enough metal to ground anything using a standard whip like on a car... boat reception just sucks... plus I think the water reflection of the air waves has something to do with it.. whatever it is.. I have yet to find the answer...

You will LOVE satellite radio. There are stations for everyone. I find myself stuck on 80s,90s, pearl jam station, Sirius blues, and some random ones. The blues station is amazing. Just amazing
