I have a 2007 211 and would like to upgrade the stock stereo head unit to one that will allow me to control the I pod form the remote. Any suggestions ?

You can do that with Clarion (including your existing unit), Alpine, Sony and Kenwood to name a few. The functionality will vary and it will depend on which Ipod and the particular generation. Part of the selection process will be to look at units that have a remote control that will retro into the existing location. I favor one of the Alpine marine units if a replacement is called for.

I did the Alpine CDA-118M, which was a perfect fit to replace the clarion. Upgraded the Helm remote, again, perfect fit and then added an additional Transom remote, custom fit including cutting and (me) scared ****less.
The benefit, of course, is that the remote controls the IPod including videos, movies and such... which I also installed LCD on the tower
