correct way to upgrade power wires for high current amp set up with a perko switch

I am looking for some help on upgrading my 2009 nautique 216v crossover amp. power wiring. There is on battery starboard (start) and two paralled port(audio & acc.) I'm installing an Alpine pdx400.1,pdx5m,pdx600.1,and a JL HD750/1. I am planning on upsizing to a 1/0 pos.&neg. power wire. But I'm not quite sure if it needs to be upgraded from both batteries to the perko selector switch and all the way back to the alternator. And then the negative back to engine case ground. Or can i just run from the paralled battery bank with with a circuit breaker installed within 18" of the batteries directly to a distribution block and then to the four amps.

    Power wire

Run the wire to one battery of the parallel set - no need to worry about the perko wire

attach neg wire at bettery terminal not motor

First thing to look at is the power AND ground wires connecting battery to battery (power)via the perko. Upgrade those first, with 1/0 if you choose that monster of a wire. Also think about upgrading the positive from your alternator and grounding from your engine. Once all this is upgraded, ask yourself if you want each amp to have it's own breaker (only 2 available in mine). My upgrade included using the high/mid amps on one breaker and sub amp on the other. I did use PDX-F4 (2 of them) for my towers and interior and dont have any issues with too much current pull on the factory breakers, nor for the sub amp. I also ran 4AWG, which I felt was plenty for the amps.

If you dont trust the factory breakers or just dont want to mess with them, you could run 1/0 from one of the batteries to a distro box and individual aftermarket breakers for each amp.

To repeat, upgrade your battery to battery to alternator before you move to your amps wiring... Your stereo is only as good as the weakest link, so make sure you power and ground paths are all solid.

      Good luck
