    2005 sv211

Offhand, does anyone know the thickness of the amp mounting board under the gullwing on an SV211? I am replacing a friend's amps, and would like to know prior to going back to the storage facility. These were messed with and someone used drywall screws to put these back on. It is quite a ways away, so any help would appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Predrill a 1/8th hole and use a stop (sleeve) on the drill bit so that you don't go farther than 5/8-inch deep. Use a 3/4-inch long #8 screw (head to tip) of which 1/8th should be consumed by the amplifier mounting flange. This should be safe.
Keep in mind that you don't have to go through the hull to do damage. A screw tip that even approaches the outside gelcoat can fracture it and spider cracks can follow.
You can also take a 1/32nd drill bit and insert it into a factory hole to test the depth used previously.
You can also peel back the carpet a bit to view the thickness of the added panel.
If ever screwing into the sole/deck of the boat make sure that screw depth is limited to 3/4-inch and that you never mount anything to the sole within several inches of the hull, moving even farther away as you approach the bow. The increasing dead rise/angle of the hull will cause the distance between the sole perimeter and exterior hull surface to narrow considerably.
Those are a few basics that could be applied universally. Hope this helps.
