    wiring issues

so i just rewired the stereo in my old 82 2001. i have a few problems that im trying to straighten out. first off the Perfect pass i have was wired the same way as it was last season and was working great. Now this year after re mounting the black box, the display only lights up and i get a few beeps from the box, the servo motor is tightening everytime it beeps. cant figure that out

the second is that when i wire the stereo to the ignition switch it will power on then power off real dim lighting and thats it. it will not stay on unless i wire both positive and ignition together and straight to the battery. after i do that it works perfectly.

the third is that on my amp. its an older california 600x4 car amp. it also worked great when i put it away last year. now when its wired the protect light comes on. i have tried troubleshooting by unhooking everything and seeing if the light goes off and the amp powers up, i noticed that the light goes off if i unplug rca cables. so now i have 4 speakers, power, ground and remote plugged in and no light. but still no power? i have tried 3 different sets of RCA cables and everytime the protect light turns on. what could it be? there are no pinched wires anywhere in this boat. all new speakers and wires...

the perfect pass has me stumped bad too.

What is the voltage reading at the battery terminals and at the terminals of the equipment described? Alot can happen over the winter. Check the voltage when things are under load and not just at rest. You really can't do any meaningful diagnosis until you have verified a healthy voltage. A fully charged new flooded battery usually rests at 12.7 volts. Its time to get it load tested if it can't hold a full charge approaching 12.5 volts. Much below 12 volts and some of the electronics will begin to behave unpredictably. Much below 11 volts most everything begins to shut down. Just the place to begin.

Report back with some readings. Perfect pass can be very sensitive to voltage.

so i figured out the perfect pass. i had the ground hooked to the back of the tach so i ran a ground wire straight to the battery and it works fine now.

i got the 4 channel amp working also. it was a blown fuse.....duhhhhhhh lol. i got these amps so stuffed up in the front of my old boat its hard to get up in the front to check the fuses, so that solved that

but now i have one more thing...i have a 2500w mono channel amp powering an alpine 10" sub. yes i know its way to much power but i have it turned all the way down....my problem is that i dont have any bass coming out of the speaker, i have checked all the connections and everything is tight, good fuses, power, ground and remote are secure, amp is powered up with green light on...but no bass out of speaker when hooked up. i have tried 3 different sets of speaker wires and 2 sets of rcas and nothing. but when i hook the speaker up i get an initial BUMP when the wires touch the pos and neg terminals....but nothing after that. any ideas?

Can you run a test tone and check the output of the Head unit? Or plug your RCA's into a different out on the head unit? Could be as simple as a setting on your radio.

i figured out that the amp is bad. it works on 2 other amps. sucks beacuse that is my only 2 channel so i got it on a 4 channel but it sounds good still. im not one to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a stereo for a 30 year old boat lol. but you can hear it 70 ft behind the boat so thats good enough for me. thanks for all your help guys.
