welcome to the thread! I recently joined myself. You got all the wire to hook up that great system?

Seriously, that should be an awesome setup!

why a ported box, if you listen to rap a lot you would want ported, but if you want clean and crisp bass from that w7 12" you should go with a sealed box.

A ported box is able to use the energy coming off the back of the speaker cone.
A sealed speaker enclosure just absorbs it.

Assuming it is ported correctly, and many boxes are not, a ported box can give you a lower frequency before audio output rolls off, or a louder response, or a smaller box. It all depends on how the box is tuned.

Google "thiele small" and read up to your hearts content.

I have a mid sized PA system in have used for concerts, choir and band competitions, dance competitions. I built my own subwoofers, using a pair of Electrovoice DL-18W speakers in a ported 14 cubic foot box. The frequency response is flat down to 34 HZ.

The most important component of your system is the wires to hook every thing up. It does not matter about how good any component is, if the wires do not pass a good signal.

Acoustic suspension (small sealed) will actually have deeper bass extension but it begins a soft roll-off a little higher. A bass-reflex (tuned port) enclosure may require 70 percent more external enclosure displacement for the same woofer. Bass-reflex will give you another 3 dB (equivalent to double the amplifier power) of output over a range that is rich with material.
But, bass-reflex will have a steeper roll-off and give up a bit of the ultimate extension.
Bass-reflex can be misunderstood in that it can have great sound quality. In fact most of the better studio monitors and esoteric home speakers will be bass-reflex (B&W, Wilson Audio, Dali, etc). Bass-reflex can be a smooth and well-damped alignment or it can be a peaky one-note resonator if the designer or lack of design determines this.
A vehicle has a confined and small volume of air in the cabin which at a certain level and frequency will provide a dramatic boost in low bass output. I like a sealed woofer in this highly efficient auto environment. However, a boat represents an open field environment where the bass energy dissipates rapidly in every dimension and with very little in the way of reinforcing planes. So a boat can use all the leverage it can get and the best sounding bass will usually come from the woofer and amplifier that is run most conservatively. That extra 3 dB is powerful.
That being said, the JL W7 is not always the best option for a towboat. It may very well be the world's best subwoofer for a vehicle but is a very heavy mass woofer and takes more power to drive and control. We do alot of creative things with the W6 series that yields more output and keeps the amplifier in a more conservative mode.

Jebb, I am running a very similar setup in my 08 210. I think you have all the goods to make it rock, just be sure to run the right gauge of wire to everything. I am also running Alpine decks/amps and WS speakers, and I added a JL W613 at the end of last season. I first installed it with a huge (factory spec) ported box that barely fit inside the locker. Due to amplifier mounting, the woofer had to point straight up and vibrated everything above badly. The bass did sound a bit lower, but not as loud as my previous 15". After switching to a sealed box facing towards the seat, it sounds MUCH better and louder than both throughout the boat, and saved some space. Enjoy, you got a sweet system

Hey the only thing I would consider is sending more power to the tower. I know that sounds a little over kill, but I am running the same RMS to 4 Pro 80s using 2 JL 300.4 's (which is similar in RMS to your setup) and I am wishing I used stronger amps. I already had those lying around though. It will sound good. But, if your going to spend the money...spend the money!!
I would look at class G/H amplifier. Arc audio or Wetsounds syn2 or 4. Those were most recommended to me. Otherwise look at running two alpine pdx 600.1 mono amps. If you hook it up right it should still be stereo sound. I would verify that setup would work with the 485? But then you would be killin it! And you could just turn the gain down.
I have talked with wetsounds and they said the pdx's are good but they will distort more than class A/B amps because they are class D. However Class D is more effiecent; that is why class g/h is recommended. That is just what I have found out after having gone through the process recently.
Wetsounds rep I spoke with also said he ran approx. 400rms to each pro80 with gain adjusted correctly on their demo boat.
                  Just my two cents.

I appreciate the feedback! The wire is 10 gauge to the speakers and 0 gauge from the battery broken out to 4 gauge to the amps. All JL wire... I realize I might be a little under-powered in the tower but believe it or not I am on a budget.. This was all I could squeeze at the moment..
As far as the sub goes.. I don't want to bass it out to a crazy level... Just something that will keep up and fill-in the lows.

Anyone know where I can pickup this sub vent?

Ah dude I hear you, I WAS on a budget it too... but you can pretty much throw that out the window lol.

Check out this link: explains all that stuff so Tim doesnt have to do it again lol!
And good luck...The other thing you should consider is getting an extra battery or two

Yes, that's an Earmark vent. www.earmarkmarine.com
Beveled face around vents and perimeter.
Rabbeted backside around the perimeter as to reduce the depth.
Hand sanded and polished to remove machine marks.
KingStarboard marine polymer will never amber or become brittle in UV.
