What amp should I run a Wet Sounds 3-Some on? I want to consolidate to just 1 amp, which one would you suggest? I know it needs to be a four channel. Thanks, Connor

I see two really good choices. In a highly efficient amplifer look at the JL Audio HD600/4 fullrange Class D amplifier. This produces a symmetrical 4x150 watts (2x150 plus 1x300) to each of the four 8-inch drivers within the 3-Some set-up. Its strictly regulated so the two bridged channels and two stereo channels will maintain the same power. It also has dual power supplies so its a beast. The absolute best from all the Class D choices. The WetSounds Syn6 will bridge into three channels. This will produce 1x600 plus 2x200 watts. Once you balance the gain between the center Pro485 and the outside Pro80s, you will still have the equivalent of 800 watts total with a little more headroom available on the center Pro485. That's exactly a 1 dB increase for a modest increase in cost.

Ok Ill look into both of them. My audio dealer in town was saying that the Kenwood XR4S 4 channel would be a good option, what do you think of that for running all three? One the Synn 6 and the 600/4 what ohms would they be running, 4 correct? Thanks, Connor

Gosh, that would be one operational amplifier with two spares. I like it.

You want to get as close to the RMS ratings of the speakers with your amp power. The PRO 485 is 300 watts RMS and the PRO 80 is 200 RMS. However, they can handle much more power.

That kenwood amp is light on power. It would do 120 x2 plus 300x1. Light on the 80's and RMS on the 485 but the 485 likes power. It likes a lot of power. The syn-4 would be a better fit for a budget as it will do 125x2 and 400x1

But the SYN-6 is the best match overall if budget allows since it will
Do 200x2 at 4 ohms to the PRO 80's and 600x1 at 4 ohms to the 485 bridged on the 485.

I am looking at the Syn-6. I have also been thinking about the Rockford Fosgate T1000-4AD, any thoughts on this one? Its running 250 to the Pro 80s and 500 to the Pro485. Are Rockford Fosgate good amps? Thanks, Connor

The Rockford amp certainly looks beefy enough. Keep this in mind. Both amplifiers are CEA compliant and are using the same 14.4 volt supply rating standard. However, The Syn6 has a regulated power supply which means it will produce very close to its full rated power at 12.5 volts where as unregulated amplifiers can fall off by 25 percent and more as the voltage drops farther. Thats the difference between test bench power and real world power.

Hey conman.....

I just installed that same wetsounds setup, I will say, you do not want to underestimate their love for power. Already said here, the speakers can handle (with respect) way more power than the rating says. As silly as it sounds, it's better to over power a speaker (again with respect) then under power it.

I would go with the syn6 as a single amp. I didn't have the room for such a long amp and went with a syn2 (485) and syn4 (Pro 80's / bridged).

i've heard of 485 handling like 700w. i would just get a syn 6 b/c it makes the 3some blast and sound really well. and it's a simple amp to set up.
