where is the best place to ground my amps on a 96 super sport

just like the title says, just got my nautique and am wondering if everyone uses a standard spot. on my last boat there was a ground post under the driver dash that was perfect but i havn't really explored my boat yet.

I would suggest that the best place to ground the amps is where the negative battery cable attaches to the engine block.

My understanding with boats is that everything eventually grounds back to the negative on the battery. I have everything grounded there. If your previous boat had a grounding block, it went back to the negative on the battery eventually. This was the answer I received over and over again from several knowledgeable people on this forum. There is no metal frame on a fiberglass boat like a car, nor do we have tires to insulate us from the water.

I recommend grounding back to the battery. Using the same gauge and length ground wire as your power wire.

The negative post on the battery is the only logical grounding location for your audio system. It not only the best reference point but the battery acts as your best filtration.
However, as your audio sytem increases in capacity this oftentimes means that you have to upgrade the cable and terminations running from your battery positive to the alternator and battery negative running to the engine block.
