I think you will hear most speakers at 80 ft, you might not hear them clearly, but you will hear them. I have four old crappy Pioneer TS-D691R 6"x9" 2-Way 350W speakers. I have two Alpine PDX 4.150 amps powering them. I bridged the amps down to two channels at 300 watts per speaker. You can easily hear them clear across the entire lake.

Not to resurrect an old thread from the dead, but I am trying to do something similar to this on my '00 and can't seem to quite get my screws/nuts to fit inside the outer ring. I am using Polk 651s, so it should be the same install. Is there any trick to the size screw/nut to get these to fit inside the outer ring properly?

I think there was another thread here recently that someone used these plastic speaker rings and removed the original PVC all together. http://http://www.amazon.com/Univer...r+ring+spacers
Just slip these behind the vinyl. If I were doing mine again, I would probably go this route.
