    Stereo gurus please chime in!

Firstly my understanding of sound systems and associated technical terminology is very basic so please go easy on me:-) As I often do I jumped into my 08 210 today to pump up the sounds and enjoy some of my favorite tunes from the factory Clarion & Polk audio setup. Since day one the system sounded great to me and has performed flawlessly.....until now that is:-( The sound emitting from the cockpit and tower speakers at low volume was ok, distorted at mid volume and unbearable at a higher volume. What would cause this to happen so suddenly (incorrect amp settings, blown amp(s), speakers or faulty head unit/connections??) Also what are crossovers and how do you set these up correctly? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry, can't help with the issue, but I can give a basic crossover explantation. A crossover is an electronic device that splits an audio signal at a certain frequency. For example if you have separates for your in boat speakers there is a box somewhere nearby that is sending part of the signal to the tweeters and the rest to the woofer. This can also be done through the amps so one amp sends a signal to the sub and the other sends the rest of the signal to the other speakers. More or less it allows speakers to play in the range they were designed to.

      Bevan,
I responded to your same question on Wakeworld with a diagnostic path.

Turned out to be a simple issue with the batteries. Thanks again David for your help...I learned a lot!
