Vented port locker / cooler door

I did some upgrades to the audio, and in converstaion with David (Earmark) agreed that I needed to vent the door to improve the bass response. Earmark offers this service, and while I was going to have them do it originally, I decided to give it a shot myself.

At first we were going to put it on a friends CNC, but getting the logo scanned into code was proving more difficult than I anticipated. So, I made a template of the Nautique "N" and went to town. Mind you, I'm a general contractor and we do quite a bit of high-end custom wood projects for clients, so I'm no stranger to a jig saw.

I think it turned out pretty well. I'm getting some perforated metal screen (50% air passage) that will be painted blue to match the trim and hull. That's not quite ready yet, but the door is installed and ready.

The looks really good! Well done!

I'm looking toward venting in that spot in my boat as well. in my 04 SAN that area of just a piece of solid fiberglass with basically a doughnut of vinyl around the boarder. I want to cut out the fiberglass and replace it with the perforated metal below. I think the circles look cool and I would have it powder coated white to look stock or even bright orange to add some flare. It would look really cool backlit with LED's.

      Thoughts?

I'm doing a similar mesh, but mine has 3/16" holes, 50% free space. Either way I think it will look good. I would go orange to match the boat - that's my thought with going blue on my mesh.

Yeah smaller may be the way to go, here it is with 3/16th holes. mcmaster.com has basically any configuration you could ever want. Round holes, hexigon, staggered, straight, every size and thickness.

I called a guy for powder coating and he said he could do it for $20. He'd just do it when he was doing another job.

I like the logo. Earmark did mine and a nice job of it. I added a plastic grill in white on the back.
