Another post has described a product from PAC that can be used in place of the clarion wired remote to control aftermarket (read: good) HUs via wired to IR setup.
They (PAC) also have a product (SWI-X) that is originally intended for automotive stereos that use steering wheel controls. This unit would see the signal from the wheel controls and send the desired command via IR LED to a compatible aftermarket HU (most models).
I have asked them if this second unit would be compatible with the Clarion wired remote. Their response is that it may, depending on how the remote sends its signals to the Clarion HU.
Does anyone know what type of communication the Clarion remote uses to communicate with the Clarion HU??
Would anyone else be interested in the SWI-X if this conversion is in fact possible (it would be cheaper and easier to install than the SC-1 setup)?
If I get no input, I will post my learnings, if any, after I get my boat and try some things out.
