I am currently pushing my 3-some with a Kicker 850.4. I'm fine with the volume output, but looking to get something a bit more stable when the voltage drops a little. Anybody have any comments on a Syn-4 vs. a Syn-6, to be solely used on a 3-Some set on the tower? BTW, 3-some is 2 Pro-80's and a 485...

According to Wet Sounds' site the SYN-6 is optimum for the 3-Some... http://www.wetsounds.com/pages/produ...iguration.htmlJason

Chad52,
Many are happy with a Syn4 driving a Double-Up or 3-Some. In the case of the 3-some you would get 125 watts to each Pro80 and 400 watts to the single Pro485. The Syn4 is also unregulated so it will produce at the same audible levels as what you have now under the same voltage conditions. You would see greater efficiency with the Class G/H Syn4 over the AB Kicker. In my opinion the power is a bit light to get the most from your speakers, particularly the Pro80s.
The Syn6 is regulated on the power supply side so it is going to give you the power stability at a wide range of supply voltages that you seek. The Syn6 is also more overall power at any voltage supply at 2 X 200 plus 1 X 600. The Syn6 is Class AB like the Kicker. I think the Syn6 is the best possible choice in a single chassis.

David,
Can you give a quick explanation of the difference between regulated vs unregulated?
Also, what are the drawbacks of the SYN 6 being AB vs the SYN 4 being G/H?
