    Dead Clarion head unit

I just purchased an 05 210, and the head unit worked at the dealership and now it will not turn on. Does anyone know where the fuses for the head unit are located or which wires I should test to see if it's getting power? There wasn't a manual. Also, can't take it back to the dealer... it's in FL and I'm in IN! Thanks for the help.

Not sure on the 2005, but on the newer boats there's a panel at the driver's feet. There's also a circuit panel at the battery selector (perko) switch if you have that.

If it really is dead, I have the Clarion unit out of my 2008 SANTE 220 for sale. Works fine, just upgraded to an Alpine unit.

There are blurry wiring diagrams here on PN and IIRC on the clarion site. I have on my laptop if you can't find them. There are two power wires IIRC one that signals turn on or maybe that goes to the amp.

do you have the "4" head unit? if so, I'm interested in it if it is dead...first dibs.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, found the diagrams and it is getting power... and it magically turned on for about 15 seconds before dying for good, I called Nautiques of Orlando (who I bought the boat from yesterday)... AWESOME people to work with!!! And they are just sending me a new unit, if they don't need the old its yours its a CMD5! BUT now I have bigger fish to fry. My wife and I went for our first evening cruise in our new boat and it overheated... steaming, smoking, nasty popping noises after I shut it down (it never got above 200) and so I ended our frist boat cruize by swimming it in. So tomorrow I need to check the intake grate for clogs/weeds, water filter, impeller... and hopefully one is the culprit. It only has 132 hours on it so I was hoping for a trouble free end of summer!!

Thanks...you can ship it to me in the box/peanuts they ship yours in. I can Paypal you for the freight.

On your overheating, check the o-ring in the strainer and (as good as you can) check the fittings going into the strainer.

Search for my post on changing the imperller.

I got it fixed today, there wasn't an o-ring on the filter so I got one of those, but it still wasn't pumping water, so I pulled the impeller and it looked like someone put it in a garbage disposal. I mean it was trashed, so threw in a new one and it runs perfect! The dealer said it had just been replaced but Im thinking they might have missed it because it was so torn up. PS your post was very helpful great tip going through the slots with an ext. I will PM you if the dealer doesn't need the old radio.

            Thanks!

The o-ring leaks in so you were sucking air which doesn't make the impeller happy. Also, if you are missing chunks, you may need to go look for them in the system. They can clog the system. See how it goes.
