    Need Sub recommendations - 10"

I need to replace the sub in my boat so I'm looking for suggestions that will fit well within my current setup.

The boat is an 89 SN, the sub is mounted under the closed bow firing towards the stern of the boat. Box is a 10" slot ported 14x16x12 (3/4thick) so I figure 1.1cuft including the ported area. Will be powered by a Clarion APX480M - bridged to 2 channels. Amp specs are 640W Peak, 80Wx4 continuos @ 4ohms, 115Wx4 @ 2ohms.

All I am looking to repalce is the sub and use my current box / amp setup.

Is this the one you are talking about?

      http://www.crutchfield.com/p_065G310...ype%7cFFPorted

Its listed as needing 1.3 cuft of airspace, slightly more than the 1.1 that Ihave. Will this matter? It also comes in either single or dual voice coil models, which is better for my needs? what is the difference?

also, would the G110 or G220 be better choices? They are listed at requiring less RMS power. My amp falls into the range of the listed requirement for the G3, but its on the low side. I would be closer to the high side on the G1, more to the middle on the G2.

I am not familiar with the other two subs. I have the G3 in my boat. I also have the sub enclosure from www.audioformz.com with a kicker 700.5 marine amp pushing it. All I can say is that the bass is very tight and sounds awesome.

well after doing alot of reading and research, I have narrowed it down to a single voice coil sub with a max rms of 300 watts. This is because I intend to use two channels of the sub for the amp and two for the cabin speakers. Using two channels bridged for the sub should give me 230w RMS. I am looking at JL right now, the 10W0v2-4 and the 10W1v2-4. The BA G3 is still in the mix as well but I think im leaning towards the cheaper JL.

Using a ported box it will sound best if you find a sub that matches the box first then the amp.

I have a kicker 10 CVX10 with a Digital Designs Mono Block at 1 ohms and a plastic marine ported enclosure that will blow the access door open if need be. My 2 cents is buy a good sub,box and amp. I installed a week ago and cant believe the 10 hits so hard. I agree a ported box will help alot. Heck even got to keep my cooler

i have had jl W0s, W3s, and W6s. spend the money and get the W6 if you can power it. it may be the best SOUNDING and POUNDING sub i have evr heard.

I went with the JL 10W1v2-4. Got it onstalled this weekend and am very happy with the sound. Big improvement over the old wore out sub I had in there.
