    Nautique Ipod Mounting

Love the new Ipod that came with the Nautique (especially after scoring 18 gigs of free MP3's from a friend!)

Now I need to find a good spot to mount the Ipod aside from just leaving it laying in the glove box. Yes, most of the time it is on shuffle but it's a little cumbersome to have to open up the glove box to search for a song, change playlists, etc.....

Anyone have any good mounting ideas yet?

How about simply putting a dock in the glove box maybe stuck down with some velcro.
then you could wire it up with a transformwer to charge and get a better signal feed to your head unit via the dock outputs. just a thought

Do a search and you'll find an option I came up with.

        Wakejunky,

Do you mean the Ipod thread where you suggested incorporating controls for the Ipod into the existing wired remote? That would be ideal but it doesn't seem possible?

I think it only incorporates for adjusting the volume. I'm looking at replacing my xmd1 with a non marine unit. Check out audiobahn and alpine for cd decks with ipod controls

I really wanted something that I could control from the receiver with remote too, but I think I might wait till next year before buying a new receiver because hopefully they will have an ipod intergrated marine cd player available, just looking at the market right now. But do you really need a marine receiver or could you just use a regular car one?

Actually, I was referrring to a plastic sleeve which I formed to cradle my iPod such that it mounts to the dash via two face tape. I then run a connector to the bottom of the iPod which charges as well as has a line level output, the headphone output can muddy your sound. I then run it into my EQ which has an external input connection. Basically, I've given up my deck.

I too would like to do something whereby I could have a my iPod in the glove box, stereo remote on dash and be able to have all my iPod controls on the dash remote. But, that is a long way out for the boating industry, if at all.

                Wakejunky and Scubasteve,

I was at Best Buy last night and Alpine has a deck (not marine) @ $250 with Sirius, multi-CD, and for an extra $120 bucks you can buy an Ipod adapter that allows you to control the Ipod via your deck and charges the ipod as well via what looks like a firewire cable. Of course, we would then need a remote (assuming your deck is not already at the helm). It might be worth going the car audio route but that's alot more $$$ for just a little benefit.

Also check out these remotes out for ipod. I'm looking at using the griffen remote and just using my ipod through my equilizer. It is supposed to transmit even through walls and it comes with a kit so you can mount the remote to your steering wheel. Maybe you could possible mount a regular car receiver such as the alpine straight to the left lower dash were the warning label is, but i think it is to small. And I am also looking at getting this cool waterproof case just in case.

Has anyone hooked up an auxillary input adapter for an Ipod to work with the Clarion M5475 ... got all this music and I'm dying to make it work!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

                      Andrew.
