My buddy has a 236 with the stock sub. It sounds like ****. I think it always has. It produces a rattle sound rather then a deep thump. I was going to take the speaker out of the box to see if there is something loose inside the enclosure. The boat is still under warranty so the owner wants to wait. Anyone have any experience with this issue? I tried turning the gain down on the clarion amp as well as frequency response with no luck.

Those enclosures suck. They are not actually sealed from the factory. Get with David at earmark on a new box to fit the stock sub. the stock sub will be fine in the right enclosure. Stereo equipment and wiring for the stereo have never been a correct craft strong suite. I had the same box and sub and removed them both in my 236. The box itself is what is rattling.00 SAN 210 (previous boat)

The cc sub enclosures could be nice if they were properly sized, and preferably vented, but they are neither. My 05 210 had a rather large box, but my buddy's has this tiny box against the wall. Both of our bow speaker crossovers were just hanging by wires as well. Very LAME in the audio department. I agree with calling David. He will set you up with a waterproof box properly sized and I'm assuming bass reflex style. It'll make a world of difference if it's amped well.Last edited by gride; 08-11-2011, 12:10 PM.
