Best RCA set up for clarion CMD3?

It has 2 pre outs. I want to use one dedicated to the sub in low pass and the front pre out for the in boats and tower speakers. My kicker tower amp has a line out. Can I just run the l/r RCA from the head unit to the input of the kicker amp, and then from it's output to the clarion apx480m; or do I need a pair of 1male/2female y adapters? I wasn't sure if the clarion can run all 4 channels in high pass with just a l/r RCA. It's a kicker zx350.2 and it is 4&2 ohm stereo or 4 ohm mono capable. If it matters or helps: it will be set up with 2 in boats on channels 1&2, 4 in boats on channels 3&4 of the clarion amp. There will be 4 6x9's on the tower using the kicker amp, and a mono amp for the sub.

Do yourself a favor and add a little EQ. The Clairon EQS 746 can be had for a little over $50 new off ebay including shipping. This will give you control to fade between the boat and tower quickly with the twist of a knob, a master volume knob so you can quickly turn the system down, and a knob to control the gain of the sub. I can't imagine not having one on a boat with tower speakers.

Good call. Found it in amazon for $50. Adding that eq into the equation, can you tell me what RCA cables I'm going to need and where they go. Why does 1/0 have to be so much more than 4awg?

1 Ipod to RCA cable for aux input to EQ for deck bypass or linking boats
4 stereo RCA cables of appropriate length: deck to EQ, EQ to boat amp, EQ to tower amp, EQ to sub.

Lately I have had good luck using the Stinger Pro 3 RCA cables. Good balance of quality and cost.

Would you recommend this EQ for a XMD3 head unit? I lost my sub outs on my head unit and need to a new head unit or go this route.

Also, where did you mount this EQ that you can adjust the fade like you mentioned? I have a 2004 SANTE with sub, tower and in-boat speakers. I am running an amp for each. I lost my sub preout and as a temporary fix, I have an rca y-cable to the sub amp.

Just mount it under the dash just under the lip. I found out the apx does run 4 channels stereo with just 2 inputs so I'll be running RCA from front pre out to input of kicker amp, then to the clarion input via the kicker amps output, then RCA from rear pre out to sub amp, running in low pass. Can I use the bass knob from the kicker to turn down the towers or will that be cancelled out ?
