    RE: Jasons 209

That's a really great install, you guys do top notch work.

Question-> It looks like all the wooden components are MDF?? I am just guessing because I am not seeing the plywood layers. Does MDF hole up OK when it get's in contact with water?? I plan to put some amps in and add a battery or two and will probably need to do something like that.

Nice work and thanks for the pics, you inspire us all to Bling out our boats.

I use MDF for everything, Everything thats wood gets several layers of resin, So it becomes some what waterproof. If you totaly cover every inch of the wood it becomes water proof. If you plan on getting it wet Use somthing else. For sub boxes I woulnt use anything but MDF, but for your amp boards you can use pretty much anything you want. I just chose to use all one type of wood. I like the way it cuts and the way you can screw it together, Plywood just doesnt do it like MDF does.

Thanks for the info. MDF is a great material to router and cut and everthing else. I was just wondering how it handled boat life. Sounds about right though, just seal the crap out of it and heck, if it messes up in a few years just take it out and make a new one. MDF usually comes very flat too, which makes it a great candidate for veneering, painting, and upholstry.

        Thanks again.
