Aux inputs in glove box power control

In my 05 211 Team there are the Aux inputs in the glove box for the stock stereo system. When i plug in an mp3 player i have to turn the mp3 player volume all the way up, and turn up the volume of the stereo quite loud to hear it. Is there an adjustment for the input power level somewhere? I probably need to read my stereo manual more, but was hoping somebody may have a quick answer. Thanks in advance!

opps sorry I forgot to answer your question. I have a dell dj20, I turn it up to 20 of 25, and that makes it about the same as say the cd player or the radio. So something doesn't sound right. meaning that yes I have to turn up the mp3 player, but then the stereo only goes up in volume like any other sound source.

I know that there is some programable options on the XMD3, I suspect aux. input sensitivity is one of them. Unfortunately my 12v power ports are not working right now so I couldn't run my XM last weekend. I will check it out this weekend. There is a sticky post with a link to radio manual somewhere on this site.

Selecting AUX IN sensitivity:
Make the following settings to select the sensitivity when sounds from external devices connected to this unit are difficult to hear even after adjusting the folume.
*The default setting is "MID"
1. Press and hold the [T] button for 1 second or longer to switch to the adjustment selection display.
2. Press the [<<] or [>>] button and select "AUX SENS".
3. Press the [^] button or [down] button needed and select "HIGH, MID, or LOW".
4. Press the [T] button to return to the previous mode.

if that still doesn't bump enough, could you add a line driver? and then slect the AUX in sens. to low?

Just a thought.. that should technically give the XMD plenty of sound to work with.. hopefully not too much..

Does anyone know a way to increse the input for the CD-Changer input on the XMD1? I used the instructions posted to make a CD changer to RCA input for my Ipod. It needs the input level increased substanitally.

Are you sure you have good connections at all pins on the plug? Mine works great.

You might be asking about a Line Driver, A line driver is what your head unit plugs into and boosts the RCA voltage/Signal to your amp's Itmes like Ipod's have a week line signal and need a line driver to maximize output signal

Most amps like to see between 4-8 volts, The stock clarion XMD- only puts out 2 v

Jeff, I believe I have a good connection. I soldered them all in place. I believe it's a voltage issue but I'll check the connections.

Grant, I thought if the XMD1 had the same ability to boost the input volume that Mikeski recommended that I would try that. However, I've yet to had a chance to check. I thought someone may know if it does or not.

As far as the line driver I thought I might need one but wasn't sure. Currently, I'm using the mini stereo output on the top of my 20GB-G4 Ipod. However, I've read that the output from the dock connector is a much better audio source. So, I ordered a SIK DIN adapter - http://store.sik.com/merchant.mv?Scr..._Code=S04-1033 for my connections.

I thought I would that adapter before I checked into the line driver. I even thought the SIK adapter would help with the Ipod holder that I'm working on as well.

The XMD-3 and XMD-1 has a Line voltage of 2volts, I saw a review of the XMD-3 in Moble Electronics and when it was tested it only produced 1 volt. It was pretty sad. Its deffinatley the week link in my system but back to the orignal question. So your pushing 1 volt and your I pod is pushing ??? I dont know, 1 volt also so your still way shy of the 4 to 8v you need, or should have. Many Eq's have built in line driver so you could get a eq for like $150 to $200 and kill 2 birds, or just get the line driver and keep it simple. The line driver is nice because you can adjust the voltage depeneding on your needs most good line drivers (Audio Control or Pheniox Gold) are under $150 online

Thanks for the info. Since I am not running a EQ (only a electronic crossover) the line driver sounds like my best bet. Since it appears that my output from the Ipod is the weak link, should I place the line driver between the Ipod and the XMD CD input or should I place it from the head unit to the crossover?
