How many have LEDS and use them regularly?

My boat is going in the shop for a new sub and box next week and I was thinking of having them led the cup holders cabin speakers and tower speakers. My other boat (bow rider) has LEDs and I don't feel I use them enough for the money I paid. So I'm trying to talk myself out of doing this boat, but I'm like a mouth drawn to the light so to speak. Someone tell me it's a bad idea and a huge waste of money because u have them and never use them as well.

Unless you boat at night a lot, it's not really worth even thinking about. It's funny... so many people are adding LEDs to things these days, when I'm always trying to find ways to shut them off (other than use of electrical tape)... of course that is in my home theater.

Another bad thing is I would have to do blue on this boat and bugs will be everywhere. Other boat is red and not too bad but I still get some. I'd hate to leave the LEDs on at the bar dock for that wow factor to come back to a boat full of bugs.

I put LEDs into two categories. 'Bling' that you want to see from the exterior of the boat and interior 'courtesy/step' lights that are indirect and can have a utility purpose as well. They can serve different purposes so I like to see the circuits separated and on different switches. Interior coaming speaker rings and cup holder rings are impractical to use at night, especially when underway, because even with diffuser rings they will obstruct your vision and can be a distraction. Indirect downcasting courtesy/step lights are not in your vision, can effectively light up coaming pockets, light up most drink holders in most boats, flood the sole of the boat and create a neat effect. Just some random thoughts about lighting.

Looks great!! I've come to the conclusion I don't keep a boat long enough to make any money on the investment. Boats going in Monday for either a pair of tens or a 12. But been kicking to idea of ordering a new 210 in 2013 if the market picks up enough to let me pay for it.

I got the underwater lights on our new 230 being built as we speak - but gotta say, if I turned them on at night and saw a school of big fish like that, I might never get in the lake again !! - - So maybe I best just leave them off if I plan on doing any evening/night swimming - Id rather not know whats around me !!

haha the cat fish are fed there at that restaurant, so they congregate there. I've never seen more than minnows behind my boat at night. The red malibu in the pic has white under water and it attracts a fist sized perch every now and then, but other than that no problems...

however, where there is bait... there are predators
