    KMT6 Amp Suggestion

    Hey guys

I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good amp to run my KMT6 tower speakers. Ive heard good talk about some smaller Alpine amps, but not sure which ones?

    Thanks!!

Ideally run a 2 X 150 watt ('honestly' rated at a 4-ohm load) amplifier. Do not run most 4-channel amplifiers bridged into this speaker as it has a narrow but nasty impedance dip that causes stability issues.

David, tell me more about this impedance dip... I'm running a pair of KMT6's right now on a Syn4 while waiting on my Rev410's. Do I need to shutdown that amp for now to keep from damaging it or will I be okay?

OP, Kicker says their ZX450.2 is perfectly suited for these speakers. I would assume their new IX500.2 would be good also while allowing a bit more power.

Yes, either of those Kicker amplifiers will do the job. I'm not worried about a bridged Syn4 since before you would thermal that large of an amplifier you would first damage the speakers. The problem is the passage of too much current. Running a smaller amplifier like half the size of the Syn4 to its limit on a July day will be an issue. Running such a large (really overkill) amplifier should keep it operating in a more conservative mode and well below its maximum thermal capacity.
