Relocating Sub to Drivers Kick Panel

I picked up a 2002 SANTE over the winter. I am definitely going to need the storage that the sub is currently taking up under the observers seat. Does anyone have a good write up (with pictures would be a plus) on the best way to go about moving the sub? I did a search, but did not come up with anything. The rear compartments are full with the factory tanks and sacks on top of them. May look into changing that in the future, but want to start with the sub.

I'm in the same boat, pun intended. I need life jacket storage under the observers seat. I plan on just putting an earmark wTerproof bass reflex box under the dash. I basically want an elongated box that will take up as little foot space as possible bc 2 of my drivers are 6'6 I have to speak with David first because I was somewhat confused about firing position even after his answer.

How would it sound under the front in a free air configuration like that? I thought about it too, but I just took mine out. I don't listen to music too much in the boat anyway. I still wouldn't mind doing it at some point if it would sound decent.

Its one thing to talk in acoustic generalizations about the woofer orientation and such. But when you want to get more concise you have to first identify the exact available dimensions. The boat usually dictates the enclosure displacement and the boat owner determines their tolerance for loss of legroom and that decides the type of enclosure, woofer size and orientation.

David, have you ever used/installed a Stereo Integrity BM mKIII subwoofer? I have one under the back seat in my Tundra, it sounds amazing, way better than I ever imagined and with a requirement of only .5 cuft of airspace in a sealed enclosure, more possibilities for placement are opened up. That looks like a very nice woofer and we do often use slim line woofers when required by the limited depth or other special application. We have done a number of downfiring subs using slim line woofers under shallow bench seat consoles for example. However, all slim line woofers will have a little lower sensitivity and a little less excursion capability than their deeper counterpart of the same size. So in the more challenging open field environment of a boat our expectations are a little different from the enclosed cabin of a vehicle where you have tons of leverage. We try to avoid a slim line in a boat but sometimes its the best option or perhaps the only option.

WOW! That is a LOT more work than I want to tackle at this point. Do not really want to cut out chunks of fiberglass. Looks like for this season the sub may just have to come out. I don't listen to much rap or anything anyway (my wife a little more) so I don't think we would really miss it that much.

I don't think that's too big a deal. Just take a reciprocating saw to the hump, spray in some foam, and sand smooth.

The only reason I had that thread bookmarked is because I copied their speaker pod (carpeted) for my 98 SN.

I have a box for 2 10" sub the fits in the storage are behind the drivers seat. It is made of 3/4" MDF and is fiber glassed. It is covered with black vinyl to match the interior of the boat. I put one of the 10s under the observers seat. I wanted the stock look back. I'd consider selling this box for $100 obo.
