    Kinetic Battery for Boat Stereo

In my truck I added an extra kinetic battery for my sound system, my installer said however that the two batteries already installed on the boat with the larger alternator wouldnt need anything extra. I am planning on running the following:

    1 x MHD750/1
    2 x MHD600/4

    What would you recommend?

This is probably a better question for David to answer, but I'll take a shot at it. You probably have more extra capacity in the boats electrical system for charging than you do in the truck, the class D amps may have something to do with that.

I put 2 2500 VMax charge tanks in my 2008 210. I didn't want the stereo connected to my factory batteries or alternator. If the batteries get too low with the boat off it will fry the alternator when you try to charge it back up.

Thanks for the response .. I will probably look into putting something in as I do not want to be stuck on the lake with a dead battery ...

First question is what year is your boat? If it is a 2005 or later your 100 amp alternator will do much better than a 2004 or earlier boat with a 65 amp alternator.

I have 2 Kinetik HC2400's (in addition to a redtop starting battery) in my boat running isolated from the main system except for the Yandina C150 charging relay. The Yandina helps to protect the charging system from overloading and helps to keep the batteries charged on long weekends.

These batteries are expensive and after 3 years of experience with them I would not buy them again. My batteries are situated upright in a place where they are easily accessible so maintenance or spilling are not issues I worry about. With this in mind I will be replacing them with good old flooded lead acid batteries when it comes time.

I would however duplicate the charging system if I were starting over again today. It has been troublefree for the whole time. I have never been left with a dead battery and my original alternator still works quite well.

This stereo will be for a G23 with an XS550 in it ... I am on the Fence about it ... somewhat due to the question of whether I require it, and also in terms of placement for it ...

I have not been able to see where the amplifiers are situated on this boat yet ... I have one in my truck for the sound system, however, I only have one battery otherwise ... The boat would have 2 batteries plus as you mention the massive alternator. Probably not worth the hassle.

Are the kinetics not sealed batteries?
