1997 sport nautique OB speaker help

I am in the process of replacing my speakers from the originals. I bought some 6.5 marine speakers that are external. I removed the old speakers and cut the mesh. The new speakers have a slight overhang so I guess I will be looking for new speakers. Since I have already cut the mesh, what external speakers will fit in the space available on my boat? I am not really looking for superior quality, just some nice sound for the $.

Any help will be appreciated.

I was looking for more of a direct replacement speaker. I tend to mess things up when I start getting crafty. I guess I will just go with 6" speakers instead.
