I recently purchased a 2004 SV211 Team Edition.
The PO had the stock HU, in boats and Kicker 350.4 Amp and sub, but never added the tower speakers (or they were sold and he didn't want to tell me.)
I want to add a set of tower speakers, but my boat budget is stretched so I am hoping to do some of the upgrades over time. My ideal budget would be about $600 - $800 this year, but might be able to stretch up to $1k if it makes sense.
I am not looking for the loudest speakers and I am not an audiophile. I want the sound to be reasonable in the boat when hanging out and would love to be able to hear it when wakeboarding.
My original thought based on reading this board would be to get something like the Rev8, upgrade/add-to the amp, and re-wire the in-boats, but this adds up to a ton of money that I need to cover some repairs and equipment this year.
Is there a smaller/cheaper set of tower speakers I could buy this year, and then next year add an amp or WS-420, then add another set of speakers?
Should I stretch my budget and get one set of Rev8s now and be done with the speakers, and then get amp next year? The 350.4 is already running 2 channels bridges to the Kicker sub, so I only have two channels left, so is that enough power? Maybe it will be a bit quiet now, but better once I upgrade the amp?
I don't want to be too cheap and end up unhappy, but try to be smart and build this out over a two year period.
Any good recommendations?
