Rev8 / FCT-5 / Z5 Cargo Bimini

I just tried to mount my Rev8 speakers on the PN boat, and ran into an issue with the top set. The lower set mounted just perfectly.

On the top, the Z5 hits the bottom of the speakers and will not come up enough for the rear bars of the Z5 to connect to the clamps. I am using the FCT-5 mounts for the Rev8 speakers, and the proper mounts for the Z5. How are you guys getting around this?

Clamping them in on the front bar of the tower closer to the center worked for my rev 10s

These use the FCT-5 specific mounts, which attach to the factory speaker mount locations. They aren't round clamps that go around the bar. They mount to the factory speaker mount locations with the three holes.

we did not use the factory mounts. Wasnt possible for the top speakers so we went with the clamps that come w/wetsounds normally.

Same thing on mine Jeff. I talked to Tim last week and he said if I took my boat to him they would look at it an maybe build some brackets. I'm not sure if bjj had to drill new holes but I would rather not. Not sure when I'm going to be able to get them the boat but I'll post back when it happens

Jeff, how about thinking about this in another way. Why not lengthen the bar a few inches, (looks to be about 2-3" from your pic) so that the Z5 can be mounted in just a bit lower position in back. Does this keep it from clamping in somewhere else or just plain look weird? I'm just trying to come up with a better (read: cheaper) solution than custom machined brackets. Surely Z5 could send some stainless tubing your way to get this done. Cut the tubing to whatever length needed, drill out the rivets that hold the ends in place on the tubes now, and reapply them to the new tubes to rivet in place.

Friends of mine have two 485's and have the same problem on a 2010 SANTE 230. They lowered the front mounts on the Z5 until the back ones would reach but the angle on the Z5 is out of spec. They now have longer supports on order from Z5. They only do short trailer trips with the Z5 in this position.

This winter I purchased 2012 200v which has FCT-3 w/o tower speakers. Ordered Rev8 speakers with fixed clamps that are std. with Wet Sounds but it looks like the FCT-5 mounts would actually work on this FCT-3 tower w/ 3 hole pattern. The FCT-5 mounts would look better if they fit. Anyone know if the FCT-5 mounts would work on late model FCT-3 (2012 200v). No bimini installed or planned.
