    3 amps vs. 2?

I currently have 2 syn 6's in my boat. One running the towers and one for in boats and sub. My problem is that I have a d4 xs-12 and can't use it with my syn 6. I have a jl m1400 in my closet. Will I have considerably more amp draw with this 3rd amp? I have 260 amp hours @25 amps. This winter I'll get a new xs-12, but really miss the bass in my system. Thanks. If you don't already know the syn 6-a has a busted ch 6. I see my options as doing as stated above, or selling the functional syn 6 for an ht-4. Then I'd have the busted syn 6 running my in boats, the ht-4 for my pair of pro 80's, and the m1400 for my sub(rms 500w @ 14.4 2ohm).

Why not talk to WS about sending back the Syn6 to get refurbished?

i've already sent it back. john went through it and it could have been repaired, but not cost feasible he said; so i bought a new one. the new one has only been installed for the last two weeks. i think i'd prefer using the syn 6's sub output b/c it's 600w as opposed to 500w, and i'd only have 2 amps. the ht-4 would add 100w to each pro 80 which would be cool. basically im trying to be cost feasible, while not really sacrificing anything. adding a 3rd amp won't be a problem, but im just not sure if it's what i should do. maybe i'll send john an e-mail, but im trying not to bother him because he has gone above and beyond for me already.

well, a) they don't make it anymore, b) it's out of my price range for now, and c) i'd get an ht-1 if i were to do that. my dream sub setup has been a syn-1 and xxx

Many repair services have a flat rate for amplifier repairs. A single bad output transistor is cheap. Give another run at this. Spend $100 to repair an amplifier worth many times that.
Having three amplifers versus two has little impact on the current draw since the idle current draw of each additional amplifier is extremely small. Past that only the final power will determine the size of the draw.

i will definitely take that into consideration. my curiosity now is that wouldnt wet sounds have said, "hey, it's going to cost 100-200 to fix it. want us to do it?"; as opposed to, "it could be fixed, but it's not really cost feasible." when i was told that it made me think it was going to be closer to 400+; which is still not bad considering a new one is $900. if it can be fixed i'd love to have it done. can i send it to earmark?

thanks for the info guys. i settled on 3 amps. my syn 6 is currently for sale in the gear for sale section. once that's gone i'll be running an ht-4 on the towers, busted syn for the in boats, and the jl sub amp. eventually i hope to move to all ht amps, but i'm semi-poor lately so we'll just wait and see.

No more Syn 1? OK, then go with a JL 500/1 V2 or a 1000/1 V2. I have the 500 in my truck. My info is starting to get dated.

i hear ya. the stereo in my truck was installed in late '05. i've got a slash 500/1 on my 10w6 and a 300/4 for my door speakers. never had anything but good to say about those amps. if someone will buy my brand new(used for a couple weeks) syn 6 i can get an ht-4. in that case i'll be super happy and run a jl m1400, ht-4, and my "busted" syn 6 on the interior speakers. it's for sale in the gear for sale section.
