    Clarion CMD6 [Aux/iPod] Question

Alright I have referred to the manual, but I guess I missed something.

Other than pressing the AUX/iPod button, what do I need to do to hear music from the play list on either my iPod or iPhone.

I tired the USB ports at the helm and in the glove box but not getting the iPhone (last night) to work.

I am sure this is operator error! Is it the cable I am using?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

is that USB hooked to an Aux port or an ipod interface? If just an AUX port you have to control it by the ipod not the radio.

I think an Aux port (?) there is a usb port in the glove box (I tried) and then in the little recess to the left of the helm (I also tried that one). I know the IPhone was playing out of its own speaker, but I didn't get anything out of the boat speakers.

I am sure it is something obvious, just don't know what to try.

Do you have the linc system on your boat?, if so, the USB at the helm is a service input for the linc system, not for the stereo head unit.

The USB input inside the glove box should be working with the correct IPhone/IPod cable. If you plus your IPhone/IPod in that USB connector and select the right source on the stereo head unit (CMD6), you should get access to your IPhone/IPod content (files, playlists, etc...). If it does not work, verify the connection of that USB connector behind the CMD6, item labeled 15 in the picture. Also try either another USB device (flash drive) to identify the source of the problem.

The aux connector is used with a double (both end) male 1/8" (headphone jack) cable. If you choose that connector instead of the USB, like TxJole said, you have to use the IPhone/IPod controls, not the head unit.

          HS,

djmekinac is right on this. You will need to hook it up in the glove box. I just use a cheap mp3 that stays on the boat, only get's updated with new music and just lives there, and no annoying text message/phone calls. You wanna be able to see what's playing via the LINC screen that's the only way. Only thing I don't like is having to open the glove box and turn the right dial on the CDM6 to get into the next album/folder.

Hope this helps, how is your surfing coming along?

Thanks! Still need to see what's what on the connections.

Had a surf session Wednesday night(when I tried to use my iPhone playlist) which was great. Had 3 guys and with only a driver, passenger and rider, the combination of the 750s and the center locker arrow sac are working great. One guy rides goofy and that side looked good. I also have 200 in pop products as well (I lent the other 200# to my pal), which reminds me that I wanted to try them once way forward in the nose next time. I did just put in some twine to help hold up the vent port to keep from sucking down flat on the empty cycle, just to be safe.

Hot weather in Vermont this week? (We're 57 and drizzle today; June gloom.)

              i have similar problem with CMD7 on a 2011 model 200

i have a new ipod shuffle and set the linc system to aux, i just plugged the very small usb cable into the USB Port in the glove box and usb flashed up on the screen and played the music ok.

after 2 weeks i did same and USB flashed up and then ERROR CODE 3 and no music> ERROR CODE 3 according to the book is CD related and not USB related, so stumped there. I also removed CD
The ipod shuffle (the small square one) works fine if i plug in my headphones cable say in the gym and listen to the music.

I verified the USB port in the boat and plugged in a different ipod device (larger ipod) and IPOD flashed up on the screen this time and music worked on boat, so i asume boat USB is good.

Therefore i can only imagine the boat does not recognise the cable between IPOD Shuffle and boat (but it did to start with 2 weeks ago)

              maybe this cable damaged now????

one thing i did do was remove the usb cable from the boat whilst USB MODE was still selected on LINC (against manuals advice) MAYBE THATS THE PROB

Anyway sorry for the long [post but I am stumped....any help appreciated

yeah I got error code 2 [CD won't eject; obviously unrelated when on Aux/iPod mode] and decided to use the headphone aux jack and it works now.

Checked the plug (15) on diagram from djmekanic (above) on the back and it didn't lead to the glove box plug -- the cable was twist tied on top of the Head Unit!. Plugged the iPod into it and got same error message!

Does anyone know if the CMD7 Radio/CD supports IPOD SHUFFLE (The small square IPOD device) Does anybody actually use the IPOD Shuffle in their machine

Yes, the CMD7 does support iPod Shuffle.

The iPod Shuffle only outputs through the 3.5mm jack. You need a male to male 3.5mm cable and you plug that into the input in your boat which is tied to the AUX input on the rear of the CMD7. Push AUX on the head for source selection and you will be rockin'

what do you mean "tied to the AUX input on the rear of the CMD7. " I cannot see any AUX round hole input in my glove box

The only AUX input I can see is in on the little shelf next to the steering wheel, (where there is also a USB for LINC Updates and yellow video input jack).
                      Is this what you mean?

My shuffle did work on the USB in the glove box until suddenly I was getting ERROR CODE 3 Message

The iPod Shuffle will not playback over USB. The you need to plug into the AUX jack you mentioned. Again, you a male to male 3.5mm cord. The size of a headphone jack.

                              Hi All,

I have the same issue, I just purchased a new 2010 SAN 230. I am running the stock stereo and have tried two different ipods and two different iphones. I know i can used the 3.5mm just fine but it doesn't give me the ability to control my radio from my swim deck. Any info on how others are making this work.

I have turned on USB mode and had no success.
