Clarion Blue power light blinking and no sound

So I'm on vacation and after 3 days the Clarion 480 AMP goes bonkers. The blue power light is blinking and no power to speakers. Yesterday after 10 minutes it came on and played fine, today it took 20 minutes, it was thinking it was a short and took some waves to jar it into shape. Now I have noticed no jarring needed, just patience (I have none on vacation with my boat). It starts blinking faster and faster for take-off then the amp powers on. The latest, the sub works fine and so does bass in the rear speakers of my 2005 SV211 TE, but no music or singing. Both the fuses are OK. Is this the beginning/middle of the end for this AMP?

I've searched this site and google and found no solutions, and no definitive answers as to the problem. Plus more people look at general topics vs stereo.

To get me thru vacation, can I pull the speaker wires off the 480 AMP and hook to the 280? The 280 powers the tower and front two speakers. I don't need the tower, but would like the in hull speakers to work.

    Thanks for any help
    Walter

update, I called Clarion Marine and they told me some trouble shooting ideas. Since the bass is working but mids and highs are broke, it could be the speakers or wiring. I confirmed this was not the problem before I called them by removing the SUB and switching the tower and cockpit speakers to the smaller amp. I don't have tower or sub, but I got plenty of sound in the boat. The technician said it would probably be the amp if not the speakers and wiring.

I told him it was a 2005 model, and he said that was probably just age. He quoted new Clarion stuff inthe range of 400 and old exact replacements half that. New models are more efficient and a third the size.

I called Clarion Marine in Charlotte NC since they were the closest and largest city that I found on clarion.com search. They forwarded me to another repair shop that they own in Raleigh NC that specialized in marine eq. The man seemed somewhat familiar, and went through some basic trouble shooting. knowlwdgeable yes at least it seemed that way to me.

If you know anything else to try, I'm open for ideas, I hate to use it as an anchor!
