    05 SAN, XMD3 Speaker issues

    Hi,
I have an 05 210 with the stock Clarion stereo.
The cabin speakers have suddenly given up. The bow speakers are working fine.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram?
Or any ideas on tests to try before I start to chop up the loom to test each speaker line individually?
    Thanks,
    Ken

Do you also have the factory sub and is it working? If you have a sub and amp, Bow speakers are wired direct to deck, other (4) cabin speakers and sub powered thru the amp.
Make sure your balance/fade is correct also.

      Yes factory amp & sub.
The balance & fade on head unit are set to 0, so it's not that
Actually, I don't think the sub was working correctly either - so i'm going to look at the amp settings now.
Thanks mate - I have no idea about stereos.

Ok definitely no sound from sub or cabin speakers. Light is on on amp but nothing I did made any difference.
How do I check the amp?

I would call Clarion (assuming it is a factory clarion amp), not sure myself, sorry. If the amp is toast you may want to consider adding a 2nd one when you replace, 1 to push the sub and the other to push the speakers. Maybe one of the smart stereo guys like Mikeski or Earmark will chime in also.

if you have a headphone jack to rca cable, you can plug an ipod straight into the amp

Thanks Cam, it seems that the amp is toast unfortunately.
I'll pull it out & look for a new one.
              Thanks for all your help.

if you have a light on the amp but no sound from the speakers, check that you have 12V at the amp just to be sure the inline fuse isn't starting to go. also, make sure light that is on isn't the "protection" light ...

I'll check voltage tonight, what is the 'protection' light?
The light that is on appears to be a blue LED.

some amps have a protection light to indicate that it has gone into "protection mode", which could indicate the amp is cooked, overheated, etc. - in this case it could be because of low voltage, and why you would test to see if you have good voltage at the amp. have seen dual element/time delay fuses go bad but still trickle enough voltage thru to illuminate a light on the amp, causing you to overlook a bad inline fuse

I had the exact same problem in my '07 SAN. It turned out I had a blown amp. Ultimately I replaced the amp with a cheap Memphis 4-channel amp, rewired the cabin speakers and bow speakers to operate off the new amp, used the two channel amp to run my tower speakers, and added a second sub with a dedicated amp to run it and the factory sub. I'm happy with the results.
