    SV211 rear radio remote location

Anybody have a suggestions for locations for the rear remote on a 211?

Here is a picture of the back of the boat with a couple options, Red oval is probably my first choice, yellow is a little too close to the waterline for comfort. I tend to prefer this side since there is not as much traffic on this side of the boat.

I think the red location is better, b/c when you use it from the water you will be on the starboard side, and you won't be able to see what your doing. That being said, the red location doesn't look too easy to read from the water either. How about my blue location? You can't really see it, but it's opposite the green location to help things out... And as a plus, the CTSY light will be shining right on it at night!

I guess I'm old fashioned, and I know I'll be in the minority here ,
      but . . . . . .

I wouldn't put it anywhere. To me, rear mounted radio controls
are just one more thing to break, one more thing to whack with a
ski, board, etc. one more thing to scrape yourself on while going
out the back. For me, I just don't see suffiecient need (actually
I dont' see any need) to adjust the radio from the back of the boat.

But hey, that's just me. My first nautique didn't even have a radio in it.

        BKH,

I shared that opinion too for a long time. Last year I put a cheapie marine radio in my boat after my old radio went swimming. It came with a remote so I said what the heck and velcroed it to the back of the boat. It was nice to be able to hit the mute button from the rear of the boat or change a music track. After only one outing in the new boat I realized that I wanted the rear remote. I guess it's just part of evolution...

          HI Mike,

you drilling the hole yourself or having it installed. I am thinking about doing the same think. Also looking into snap on gator grip for my teak deck, I had it looking perfect til the boys got all over it with the boards. I like teak, as apposed to the fiberglass, but with this setup I just throw the gator grip out for them to board, and then when we're done and just lounging I roll it away.

This will be hole number eight in my new boat so I will be doing it myself. The bow speakers took a little courage the one in the side panel under the throttle for the Pre-amp took a little less, the others were in hidden spots so they were easy.

My teak is there to get used, real ski/wakeboard boats have scratched teak decks. It get's a light sanding and re-oil every fall and another light oiling in the spring. Did Chris have a suggestion for backing on the gator?

Ok, so your a master driller, mind if I come over and get some pointers on the rear remote hole, I would like to add that too.

haven't talked to Chris yet, but usually I have glued the gator grip for my other applications. I just thought I would cut out a piece, that covered the swim step, and then counter sink some snaps into the teak, so they are flush, and match them on the gator grip.

I know I am still in that , "take your shoes off!, use a towel!, put your board on in the water!,you left finger prints all over the windshield!" mode, but it will start to fade as I wear out trying to keep up.

I can't go out boarding with you...

Carpets can be replaced, vinyl can be repaired, most all gelcoat scratches can be repaired, and teak is made to get scratched. Just take a few precautions and everything will be OK, relax and enjoy the boat with your family.

Bring your boat over and I'll drill that hole for you with a villian's smile on my face.

pretty sad huh Mike, It's going to take a little while for me to ease up , but I will, always do.

love to bring her over, should have the remote by friday if I am lucky, but we're in for another wonderful weekend here in Norcal ;c( plus I would like to get your ear on my system and see if you have any tuning recommendations.

did you settle on the location, I like Abundiga's idea, because I want to be able to swim to the side of the boat and control the audio without having to jump on the deck (refer to earlier comment about scratches..) the yellow spot means having to reach over blind, or jump on the deck (truth is I am lazy) and the red spot is to close to where I see folks dangling thier feet as they sit on the sun deck? just my .02

well I settled on the red spot. All the others seamed to be to close to the edge of the corners, and the M303 remote has as high profile. It looks nice there , and accessible. easy install, took 20 minutes.
