sorry i dont have much experience with orion they (have been around a long time) or phoenix... it isnt about blowing anyone out of the water...the reference are iv & v's are THAT INEFFICENT.......I cannot stress that enough..they require some serious, serious current- this is a major design flaw of the design..dont get me wrong, they are not bad(the idq driver would have been a better choice)...but this is where the nvs are much better...

in short. i would not skimp on the current capability of amps for these speakers....you'll end up over driving the amp and damaging the speakers...

in discussion with mike@wakeside..the speakers were designed around tru amps (really serious high end car amps.....2x-3x the price of zapco/jl...)

the kicker zr series were designed by a/d/s and built by kicker (they are wwwaaayyy underspeced... they can throw some serious current (run at 1 ohm load mono !!!!)and can be found for reasonable prices on ebay..

im running a Kicker sx600.2, its 300rms running at 2ohm stable.

Its has one of the best reviews out there.

I will not be running any other amps besides this one, would you suggest a good capacitor for this skylon 5's and this amp?

On another note, the deafcom IV's are on serious backorder i would expect to see them anytime soon. Like 40 orders or somethng mike/spencer said. Luckily nobody ordered the V's cause the price so im number three inline. They have 5 sets in carbon arriving the 8th of may.

If i were you i would switch your order.

if that is you only amp and it is good for 250-350 rms @ 2 ohms, then your electrical system should be fine.....

caps- a lot of different opinions here...i will use caps with unregulated power supply amps...

you may want to see the carbon finish before committing..it is a plastic wrap.

i havent seen the black finish yet on the skylons yet...but would look at both in person before pulling the trigger

I was told its full real carbon fiber not fake?

They even called skylon to verify.

uhmm i dont know if it real (it doesnt look it)... it really, really looks like a vinyl wrap.

imo..after seeing it, i would more than llikely go for the black(sight unseen)..

Hey guys which tower member do you attach the tower speakers too. I see sometimes the same as the toe rope and sometimes the other.

Im thinking im going to be hitting my head if i add them to the same cross-member as the knob for the rope.

                  thanks for any input.

I know this is a skylon post but I'd like to hear more about NVS stuff. Does anyone know exactly what speakers/components are being used on those cans? I'd like to get those speakers in a fiberglass box and I can always make the box myself. I do know it uses Eminence stuff, but I haven't been able to figure out anything beyond that.

the nvs use the emience beta line(there was a thread on wakeworld awhile back on which line)

the woofers are fine but would look else where for the horns and crossovers ( you can do a lot better !!) from what i have been told selenium is better for the horn...also the crossove will need some tweeking with notch filters to smooth it out..

                        clubmyke,

what's a notch filter? I just installed 4 Eminence Alpha 6's and 2 horns in a wetbox and i'm using crossovers and an l-pad for the horns. I just finished the install but i'm very happy with the sound so far.

Any input on Orion or Phoenix Gold amps? Again I know very little about audio products...just trying to make the right purchase for the deafcon's. I'm not looking to blow anyone out of the water, we seem to cause enough comotion as it is...Thanks.
I'm running 3 phoenix gold tantrum amps in my SAN. Love them to death. They have plenty of power for my system and they can take the abuse.

Where do you get the l-pad for those?

I received the deafcon V's last tuesday. I ended up getting the standard gloss black finish. They look really nice, quality is great. Cant really say more then that, they look really good. Testing them out on the boat friday night, results when im back from the cabin in monday.

My test should be a pretty good one, im using everything skylon suggests. I got the 8 pin wiring harness, deafcon V's and the Kicker SX600.2

Will see how the package does.

Total cost for everything, $1950.00US plus $300US for the amp install and running the wires. I got lazy, they made a really nice rack for the amp though. So all in all $2250.00US for everything installed.

There huge though, way bigger then i thought. Im actually hoping they fit on the FCT

                                great looking and sounding speakers.

Be warned, they do not fit on a FCT 2001 model year. Not enough room.

                                Sucks,

Need custom second bracket made, lucky a good friend of mine owns a metal fab place.

Be warned they DO NOT FIT, need of custom braket for install.

                                Sucks for $1600.00 speakers,
