    Stereo upgrade advice

Boat is a 2011 Super Air 210. It's not a team boat, but we added the upgraded factory 2 amp stereo. The only difference I think is we have 4 inboard speakers instead of 6. Also have two batteries.

Dislikes : One is the amp that drives the sub keeps cutting out. I thought maybe it was heat related, but it continues even with cooler weather. The other is the horn drivers sound too tinny.
I'm not looking to break the bank here or have the loudest system on the lake. I do like the lights on the bottom of the horns and the ability to swivel the other clarion tower speakers.
It's a Buxton boat located in DFW and has a Z5 bimini. What's my best options for my budget of no more than 2K ?

    Thanks

    GC,
There is a measureable reason for most every performance issue. Don't go switching out existing equipment until you are certain of the issue cause. For example, a sub in an un-vented port locker can work the subwoofer and sub amplifier to death (at least four times harder to produce the same output). The sub enclosure, system tuning, voltage and supply cable can also make negative contributions to the amplifier thermal behavior. Speculation isn't enough to make wholesale changes. In order to maximize your budget you want to utilize the good elements and only replace the truly weak links. This way you are making more than marginal improvements and not carrying forward the old demons.

      GC,
While just an example above, I believe your boat has a Polk Audio MM series 10-inch woofer in the starboard side coaming at the driver's hip. Based on the Thiele/Small parameters this is a true air suspension woofer (a really good woofer that is intended for a small sealed enclosure) placed in an infinite baffle application. This is one place you can expect an improvement.
