    Wetsounds upgrade questions

Going to be revamping my audio system in my boat this next year and was looking for some input on my options. I will be upgrading the interior speakers to wetsounds XS-650's and wanted to get your opinions on sub and tower speakers. What would be the best choice for replacing the factory sub in it's current location? Don't want to take up and storage in the compartments for an enclosed sub. Hoping to keep the factory Clarion amps to keep cost down to a minimum. In the respects to the tower speakers, I have a 2011 sante and noticed some of the talk on here about the challenge to get rev speakers to fit with the bimini top. Would you just replace the speakers in the factory roswell cans and upgrade to the wetsounds pro 696 or go ahead and replace with the rev 8's? Are there any new brackets to help with the fitting of the rev's with the bimini?

I thought the bimini top was above the tower. What's the interference?

        fitty,

I do not want to assume, so let me just ask exactly what your in-boat system is comprised of. Most of the CC's I come across have 6 in-boats and a sub. The sub is driven bridged on chnls 1/2 of the Clarion 4 chnl and the 4 main cabin speakers are driven off chnls 3 and 4. This leaves the bow pair on the head-unit.

In most cases when we do a tower speaker upgrade, the new speakers are better served with a new amp delivering more power. So what we do is leave the factory 2 chnl tower amp in place, and relocate the sub to the 2 chnl. Its power stays the same and this now opens up 2 channels for us to take the bow pair off the head-unit and put them on 2 chnls of the 4 chnl and give them some power.

Is your tower amp the APX or NX series 2 chnl? Your available amp power will determine which speakers will be the best choice if you retain that amp, and what their expected performance will be.
