Which speakers and Amp to get for a TE SV-211

I have a TE SV-211 coming at the end of May and passed on the tower speakers from CC. I have the ability to buy Skylon, Fusion, and Kicker (amps) at a discount.

What should I get? I want a nice clean sound that riders can hear, but I don't need the entire lake to here the music I am playing...

    Thanks for the info.

If those were the only choices, I would get the skylon deafcon 4 series...the new update versions and hook them up with Kicker Amps.

The Skylon's are getting good reviews, and are rated better than Fusion's. I dont own either but, from my research and posts from users, Skylon's are considered Tops along with the NVS series.

That would be my choice selection.

        Justin,
I am in similar position as you, and after lots of searching and asking questions I ordered the new Skylon IV's. Keep in mind you need a rather large/powerful amp to push the speakers, so it get's expensive...for me anyways! Also the IV's have been on backorder for quite some time, I ordered mine about a month ago, and still no word yet! Summer is approaching quickly and I need a sound system, but in my mind they are probably worth the wait! Good luck with you search and choice...

i went with the reviews and got the Skylon deafcon V's and a kicker sx600.2 amp.

There is a huge backorder for the IV's so be ready for that. You most likely will not see them till june. My V's arrive first week of may. If you can handle the wait get the IV's if you cant then order the V's. Not many people order them cause the price.

            Justin,

If I was buying tower speakers, I would get the NVS 808's.... Obviously the 1010's are going to push more sound, but the 808's are more than enough to do the job and I would save the weight/space. www.nvs1.net

            Anyway....just an option....

....and I guess answering your question, I think the general consenses on Wakeworld is that NVS speakers cannot be beat. Some will argue that with the Skylon's....but you said "most" people.

Just pick what you like, i just never liked the way the nvs looked. As stupid as it sounds thats what it came down to.

just as a heads up regarding the nvs or the skylons....both of them will require top quality amps...at the minimum a zapco ref 750 or 1000....

each speaker has a pro/con to it.. The skylons are really, really inefficent but they have a nicer horn. the nvs are much more efficent /amp friendly and have a nicer enlcosure ...

the only other one that comes to mind is a used kicker zr 600 or zr 1000 ( they are designed by old school a/d/s and built for kicker- they are some serious kick a$$$ amps.. very under speced and can run 1 ohm mono or stereo no problem)

                    Hey guys,
I have a question regarding the Defcon V's and NVS's.
Can you hear those speakers when you cut out to the side of the boat. It seems that the speakers are pointed straight back. I see a lot of newer 6X9's and 6's tower boxes being angled out so you can hear them when you are cutting outside the wake.

the horn designs "beam" the center area very common to horns...

i dont think horns are the way to go for a tower speaker... there are better hf drivers out there that will work better without the deficencys of the horn ( everything is tradeoff )

tower speaker design is still in the infancy stage.. it is going to take 2-3 generations till there is something that is listenable, efficent, and well rounded.. till then.. the best going is the nvs ( my opinion) ....

havent tried the newer ones...the second series are very good amps (designed by ads)

would consider a zapco 750 /1000 or the older kicker zr 600 or zr1000

Just so you know...wakeside just recieved more deafcon IV's. They were on backorder for a while, so if your looking to get a pair you should order soon.
