    Calling all G23 Owners

I am in need of some assistance.

My boat is currently winterized at the cabin, and I am trying to do some summer project planning. I have upgraded the stereo system but still are having problems with the power system.

I was hoping someone with easy access to their G23 could let me know if it would be possible to run 1/0 Guage power wires from the batter location to where the amps reside. I am thinking if the wires could run to the outside of the boat and then be fished along the hull to the amps? Also an estimate on the required length?

This would be greatly appreciated, Thank You.

From the amp location (port helm locker) to the battery location or to the battery selector/power switch (helm walkway)?

From the amp location (helm locker) to the 2 batteries under the floor just behind the cooler. I want to run dedicated lines so that the third stereo battery gets charged from the alternator and battery maintenance system.

I saw no access directly from the batteries to the amp location as the two decks are well sealed/glued. With my stock amps, the power wires from the amps go forward, then run under the floor boards in the center and up to the power switch. But there is an access hatch in the storage area that runs to the center space. I ran a USB cable from the amps to the drivers glovebox via this hatch. So you should be able to run a power wired from the batteries forward to this hatch. It is a tight space and feeding the wire was tricky and required a good guide/pull wire. The batteries to the amps via this path is about 7 to 8 feet.

I will try and look tomorrow but I believe the ground wires to the amps run at the top of the storage area under the seats as they go to the engine block. You certainly could go this way with the power cables as well but it would easily double the needed length of copper.

          Thank You so much!

This definitely helps. So you think you can get to the top of the storage area from the batteries? Going forward would definitely be a better option, however. I looked at the price of cable and it is like $20/ft for 1/0 Guage wire ....

Has anyone pulled the floor yet? I'm thinking about it to run my 1/0 wire. I also want my wetsound 420 under the dash and it might be easier to pull the RCA cables to it.

I think you could be able to run a cable from the amps towards the rear, and then direct it over toward the middle of the boat. It's been a few months but when I was looking to plumb more sacks, I think I recall being able to get ballast hose from the middle bilge area (pumps/batteries) over into the port rear ballast compartment. From there I think there was a hole between the rear ballast and the storage under the observers seat. Again, this was a few months ago, but I think I'm remembering correctly.
