    MB-8's with Icon 8's and a Syn2

Wet Sounds had an amazing deal on a pair of MB-8's that I could not pass up. Now my current tower set up is a pair of Icon 8's with a syn2 amp. Can I add these MB-8's to my current system and run them parallel with the Icon's or will I need to add a bigger amp?

    Thanks!

    Super B,
The idea of the MB-8 add-on is to add warmth and deeper midbass extension. Although they are both 8-inch drivers, the MB-8 is more robust with greater power handling and has a decidely larger pod displacement. The sensitivity is not identical either.

So you can run both pair of speakers on one Syn2 for a 75% increase in power divided between four speakers now.
The ideal scenario would be to add a second Syn2 (or other 2-channel) so that you can gain and crossover the two dissimilar speaker sets individually. You want the active highpass on the MB-8 to be lower.

Thanks for the reply David. Sounds like the best option would be to add a second syn2.

        Super B,
I might also mention that with this combination you are going to change the balance of sound more than you will change the volume or projection. That is another reason to run separate channels with separate crossover points. You will have the option to highpass the Icon8 just a bit higher now. Narrowing the amplifier and speaker bandwidth will translate to greater output and projection.
Just be careful how much power you send to a conventional 1-inch tweeter. Keep that amplifier out of clipping/compression. As you find the clipping threshold when tuning use that displayed numeric threshold with discipline when out on the water and underway as the day grows longer and nothing sounds as loud anymore.
