Speaker / System for 2001 Air Nautique

I purchased a 2000 Air Nautique last summer. The system is pretty weak on it and I'd like to upgrade to something where I can hook in my iphone for tunes. Any recommendations on a reasonable priced set-up? I'd like to replace the amp, wiring, all speakers and add 2 tower speakers. Thanks.

If you wanted to be savvy & cheap, get a 6 channel amp, 2 for the tower, 4 for the boat speakers. Run a toggle switch to the remote turn on in the amp, run a rca to mini plug diectly to your phone. No head unit needed!!!

what are you trying to do with your stereo? do you just want to hear it while underway? do you want the ability to project music all the way out to the rider? do you plan on adding a sub or no? power wire and audio interconnects can add up, not counting amps and/or speakers. first thing you need to do is set a budget.

We do a lot of wakesurfing so I don't particularly need to have the wakeboarder hear the music. I wanted to be in the $1500 range.

since you do alot of surfing i would say lay off the tower speakers for now. if you crank the in boats you can hear them surfing. forgive me, but i'm not sure if you have bow speakers so i'll just assume 4 in boat speakers. you could easily run them off of a 2 channel amp and be done(don't forget to fuse). then down the road if you want a sub you can throw in a wet sounds as-10 sub, and when you want you can throw in tower speakers and an amp for those along with a distribution block. i'm not saying you have to go this route, but just off the top of my head, jl audio 1/0 power wire is going to run you about $8-9/ft. so things add up super quick, especially if you're also paying for labor. as someone who's done and redone their system a few times i can tell you to plan, plan, and plan some more. as far as brands i won't get into that because it's subjective, but just as an aside i've had my wet sounds pro 80's since they first came out and they have sat on my tower outside everyday since then covered by speaker sox, except during the winter months, and they have 0 problems.
