Speaker location in 88 2001

I have a buddy that just got an 88 2001 and he's wanting to put speakers in the back of the boat near the rear seat, we've thought about building a box under the side rails on each side but I'm wondering if there is any different ways of doing it? Any suggestions?

I built a pod to relocate the kickboard speaker on my 98. It's out of the way and blends well for my taste.

1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.
