    Any stereo experts out there?

I just recently installed a new Kenwood 3028mrcc cd player to replace the factory installed Kenwood cassette player in my 1989 SN and have had nothing but problems since. The main issue is that the unit keeps powering on and off, especially when I turn the volume up. I know it has something to do with the wiring because I sent back another deck because of these same issues...I thought it was the deck but now understand it was the wiring. Does anybody have any ideas on why this is happening?

You need to run a new 10 guage wire from the breaker (near engine) to the ignition breaker on driver's panel. Sounds like the unit is shutting down as the new head unit is drawing to much power and your old wiring can not keep up.

hey buddy hate to hear of a problem with your radio if more power dosnt work you may have a bad speaker that is grounding out to check just turn it up to the spot it cuts off and start unplugging 1 speaker at a time till you find it more than likely this is the problem. let me know if this helps or not i have plenty of other solutions

It sounds like your voltage is dropping below an acceptable level; the only way the stereo will shut down is if the IC's in the power supply fall below a certain voltage (typically 4.95 volts). It appears the source power is inadequate, check your manual for the power requirements.
