      Zmack-

I had those 8" coax as inboats in my Wakesetter, so I have direct experience with them, it had 6 of the 8" coaxes. I would give them an A-. A hardcore audiophile won't like them because of the plastic woofer cones. I was a little disappointed due to the only 100w RMS, would have likes to see 150w or ideally a 175-200w RMS on the larger speaker. 100w on a tower speaker would not be considered impressive by most standards. The enclosures and mounts looks sturdy and adequate, but I have no experience with them.

do not get these if you want to hear music while wake boarding. I would use them as inboats again perhaps, but not on a tower.

you need to describe better how it is you use your boat? 100% wake, or surf only? Party cove blast out?

these might be good perhaps for surfing, and decent for floating and party cove. 350$ is a bit steep for what you get IMHO, but might suit your needs perfectly.

reply back with how you use your boat

Yep, i too was thinking about these..http://www.ebay.com/itm/230989237013...84.m1423.l2649

I wanted NOT for wakeboarding but just for surfing...what do you think? I want to not spend too much $$$.

I do see the speakers are 100 rms, 200 max...Below are specs for my alpine amp...So I couldn't bridge and give max or would i blow them pretty quick, right?

Ya think i should just same my money up for wetsounds icon8? They are 150 rms and 300 peak. So I can bridge into those, right?

        PDX-4.100M alpine amp
        RMS Continuous Power (at 14.4V , 20 - 20 kHz )
        • Per channel into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N) .................................................. ............................. 100W x 4
        • Per channel into 2 ohms (≤1%THD+N) .................................................. ............................. 100W x 4
        • Bridged into 4 ohms (≤1%THD+N)........................................ ............................................. 200W x 2

Scott, I think these could be an 85% solution for folks who are budget minded and the max extent of their use would be during surfing and "mild" partying while floating, and they have no illusions about trying to show off at the docks or crank it up in party cove that they only have 100w x2 coaxes on the tower next to boats with rev10s and off the charts high dollar setups. Thats all I am getting at. I think you will be happy with sound quality as long as you keep in mind it is a 100w coax and keep the volume reasonable and have it tuned well.

The undisputed best coax out there for towers are the JL 7.7s... but those will be way beyond your budget. And both Exile and Wetsound tower coax setups are $700+.

Somehow I made it through my first 3yrs of boat ownership with the 8" Bazooka tubbies...

With the Fosgates in the $350 range, and those Icons in the $700+ range... I'm not seeing the value there for the extra 50w for the Icons.

David could give you the theoretical answer as to how an increase of 50w from 100-150w would be nearly inditinguishable.

I would also look into the Kicker KM6200 (I think that's the model name). I have these on my tower and can hear them while I wakeboard, but they also sound great at close range and just chilling in the boat. The best part...165 bucks per speaker. However, they are only a 6in. speaker so they don't look as cool as an 8 or 10 inch speaker does. But they get the job done.

              here's another option:

if you could tolerate the size and the oddity of a single large pod.... look in the classifieds. There are WS410s in there for 750$ each. just one of those 410 pods on 500w would well exceed 5+ pair of the coaxes. if you are on a budget doing marine audio, gotta accept something somewhere. This would be in shape, size and appearance.... definitly not in performance.

I'm mainly use my boat for wakeboarding and surfing and partying. I had a pair of pro 60s that didn't last long at all. The last time we went out I blew one of them so that's why I'm looking at different speakers. A buddy of mine has the fosgate all across his tower and it sounds pretty good. I was just let down by the wetsounds so I was testing the water. Granted they were pro 60s just looking to see what's out there

You can contact WetSounds and they can fix the blown speaker coil which might be cheaper. I have 4 of the Rev10s and they work really well just need to give them about 300 watts a piece.

Did you contact us to see why the drivers blew?
Did you do the install or a shop or factory?
                    What amp was powering them?

There are so many variables. We can take a look at the driver and the system and help find out what's going on. If properly powered and tuned right. You should never have any issues. 99% of the time, speakers get the blame when it isn't the speaker. Speakers are at the end of the line. They are doing what the source and amps tell them to
                    Do!

                    Give us a shout. 877-938-7757

If you do decide to upgrade, I recommend looking at the ICON 8 of REV 8 if your in the 8 inch speaker area. However, I you want the ultimate for wake and surf and party cove, the REV 10 or REV 410 is the ticket.
