Need help picking the right sub

I recently purchased a polk 5000.1 amp which says it is rated at 200 rms bridged at 4 ohms (gonna get some wetsounds pro 80s or some rev10s) and 500 watts rms at 1 ohm for a sub. Now I was thinking about buying a dual voice coil 2 ohm sub and running it in series to get the impedance down to 1 ohm. Does this sound right?

I was thinking this sub. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWR1...1#overview-tab

You will probably want a marine specific sub. Marine audio is louder because they are designed for an open air environment unlike cars.

ok, I assume you mean the Polk 5000.5

200w x 2 isnt good for Rev10s, not enough power. you want 350-400w x 2 on those. And putting 500w on a 1000w RMS sub isnt the best either. I dont have any issues with using that sub in a boat, it would sound great, but you are underpowering it.

but yes your wiring is accurate.

There are very few high quality Class D 5 channels that have high power ratings.... and do it for a reasonable price, they get VERY expensive. you will be cheaper if you separate the 2 and put a quality 400w x 2 Class D on the Revs and another 1000W x1 on the sub, or you go smaller in the tower speaker and sub ratings and use that Polk.

The only 5 Channel I know that is in the ballpark of what you are looking for here in terms of power is the Digital Designs SS5. 400w x 2 @4 and 850w x 1 @ 1 for $900.
